Enabling MCMS WAE v2.0

Before enabling WAE on your web site it must be MCMS enabled. It is recommended to use Configuration application to enable/disable WAE. However you can manually enable WAE on your web site.

Note: After you enable or disable WAE you may have to restart IIS and clear “<Windows Installation path>\Microsoft.NET\Framework\<.Net Framework Version>\Temporary ASP.NET Files” folder for changes to take effect.

Make sure you have ASP.NET client library and Microsoft Internet Explorer WebControls client libraries mapped at the root of your site. If you do not have aspnet_client and webctrl_client folders, than:

  • create aspnet_client virtual folder mapped to ASP.NET client library (usually C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\aspnet_client)
  • create webctrl_client virtual folder mapped to IE WebControls client library (usually C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\webctrl_client)

Enabling WAE with a Configuration application

Run configuration application. Only MCMS enabled sites are displayed in IIS tree. Check web applications where you want to enable WAE. The sites for these applications will be also WAE enabled. Click OK to save your settings.

Manually enabling WAE

  1. Map CMS virtual directory under your web application to <WAE Install Folder>\Server\IIS_CMS
  2. Map CMS virtual directory under MCMS application to <WAE Install Folder>\Server\IIS_CMS
  3. Create new WBC virtual directory under /NR/System/. Map it to <WAE Install Folder>\Server\WBC folder. You do not have to delete existing WBC folder
  4. Create new Resources web application under MCMS application. Map it to <WAE Install Folder>\Server\Resources folder
  5. Add wildcard application map for Resources application. Go to Resources Properties->Virtual Directory Tab->Configuration.
    • For Windows Server 2003: Insert new wildcard map.
      Executable - <Windows Install Folder>\Microsoft.NET\Framework\<.Net Framework Version>\aspnet_isapi.dll
Verify that file exists - Unchecked
    • For Windows XP and Windows 2000 Server: Add application extension mapping.
      Executable - <Windows Install Folder>\Microsoft.NET\Framework\<.Net Framework Version>\aspnet_isapi.dll
      Extension - .*
      Verbs – All verbs
Verify that file exists – Unchecked
  6. Disable Anonymous access for Resources application. Go to Resources Properties->Directory Security Tab->Authentication and Access Control. Uncheck Enable Anonymous Access checkbox. Check Integrated Windows Authentication checkbox. Uncheck all other checkboxes.
