Unable to add or remove MCMS site via Server Configuration Application (SCA)

Exception in MCMS Configuration Application - Web Server Configuration dialog:

Unexpected Error! Failed to set Entry Point to Read Only. Screenshot

The exception is caused by /NR/System/ folder incorrectly mapped as virtual folder in IIS. Screenshot.

This bug is fixed in WAE v2.0.7.0 and later versions

Solution

If you are running WAE v2.0.5.1 or previous version:

  1. Disable WAE at all web sites using WAE Configuration Application prior to uninstalling.
  2. Uninstall previous version of WAE
  3. Install MCMS SP2 (optional)
  4. Install WAE v2.0.7.x and enable WAE. Read How to upgrade to WAE v2.0.7.0 and MCMS SP2

If you are running WAE v2.0.7.0:

  1. Go through all MCMS-enabled web sites in IIS and delete NR\System virtual folder. Make sure you are deleting the virtual folder, not the folder on your disk. Refresh IIS tree
  2. Create new WBC virtual directory under /NR/System/. Map it to <WAE Install Folder>\Server\WBC folder.
  3. Restart IIS.
