Does WAE Support Telerik r.a.d. Editor?

Yes. WAE v2.0 supports Telerik r.a.d. Editor v1.5 and later versions and has special integration features. With WAE you can replace r.a.d. Editor “Insert Image”, “Insert Document” and “Select Internal Link” dialogs. You are able to drag-and-drop Resources and Channel Items to r.a.d. Editor placeholder from WAE Workspace tree and from new “Insert Image”, “Insert Document” and “Resources Manager” dialogs.

Do I have to make any modifications in my code to use WAE v2.0?

This is not absolutely necessary. Usually you will replace your Console with the one shipped with WAE v2.0. In case you want to keep your own Console you may want only to replace 5 standard Console Actions.

What if I do not want to modify code of my web site(s)?

After enabling WAE for your web site you will get most of great WAE v2.0 features, like new trees, Web-Folders, drug-and-drop, Workspace, new Resources Manager, etc. The only limitation is you may not be able to use Delete button and Switch to Live Site Console Actions from a Workspace.

Does WAE v2.0 modify files in a default IIS_CMS folder?

No. Unlike WAE v1.0, WAE v2.0 is installed in a folder other than <MCMS Intallation Folder>\IIS_CMS.

What if I made changes to files located in IIS_CMS folder?

The changes you made in <MCMS Intallation Folder>\IIS_CMS will be intact. WAE v2.0 is installed in a different folder, you chouse during installation process.

Does WAE v2.0 install any ActiveX controls?

WAE v2.0 uses MS XML 3.0. This ActiveX is shipped with many applications and installed on most computers. If it is not installed on a client machine it will be downloaded and installed during first access to WAE.

Do I need to install any MS XML 3.0 Service Packs on client computers?

No. WAE v2.0 works with any MS XML 3.0 Service Pack.

Will I be able to run MCMS sites not using WAE after WAE v2.0 installation?

Yes. With a new configuration utility you are able to enable/disable WAE v2.0 for each separate web site.

Does WAE supports framed sites?

Not all framed sites are supported. To use WAE Workspace you may have to make some modifications to your code. In case your site navigation and links does not contain items with _target=”_top”, top.location = “url” WAE Workspace may support your framed site.

What if Microsoft releases a Service Pack for MCMS?

Installing WAE in a separate folder minimizes risk to be broken by MCMS SP. However if new SP will break WAE v2.0 we will release WAE service pack as soon as possible.

Why is it recommended to replace DefaultConsole or individual DeleteAction, ReattemptDeleteAction, SwitchToPresentationPublishedAction, AuthoringExitAction and ExitErrorAction Console Actions?

This is required by WAE Workspace. These actions make redirections to top frame.

Do I have to uninstall WAE v1.0 befor installing WAE v2.0?

No. You can safely install vWAE 2.0 not uninstalling WAE v1.0. Even if you uninstall WAE v1.0 files modified in IIS_CMS folder will not be reverted to original. You can only restore IIS_CMS folder from a backup.
